2002-2004:
Before Taylor’s career started, she dressed like a normal teenage girl from the early 2000s. The popular fashion trends were mini skirts, tank tops, denim jeans, headbands, and sneakers. Taylor had the look of the “girl next door”. She wore her hair long and curly, which soon became her signature hairstyle. She loved to wear statement tees, faded jeans, bejeweled bras, and sneakers. When Taylor moved to Tennessee to pursue her singing career, her style changed from the girl next door to a country singer. She still enjoyed wearing tanks and jeans, but dressed them up with country inspired accessories. She was seen often wearing cowboy boots and floral dresses.
2006-2007:
Taylor introduced her debut album in 2006 and received the “Female Vocalist of the Year” award in 2007. She began to make a name for herself not only because of her music, but everyone loved her fashion style. She was known all over the world and became a role model to many young girls and teenagers. When Taylor began to perform she refined a unique sense of personal style, consisting of knee-length dresses covered with sequins, beads, or glitter. She wore a series of baby doll dresses and would wear long princess type gowns to award shows. Taylor continued to wear her curly hair and rock her cowboy boots.
2008:
In 2008, Taylor’s career was booming and she was one of America’s favorite pop stars. Her style began to mature and she began to wear more sleek gowns to events that were tight fitted and showed off her figure. She wore deep V-necks, strapless sweetheart necklines, and 1920s inspired dresses. She remained wearing mini dresses for more casual events with not as much sequins or sparkles. She started to distance herself from her cowgirl boots and began wearing leathered black boots and heels. Her hair was often straightened and parted on the side or worn up with a low bun. She wore large earrings and chunky necklaces to add to her look.
2010:
Taylor continued to wear sweetheart necklines and elegant gowns, but began wearing more revealing dresses. In 2010, she started to sing songs about her transitioning from a girl to a woman, which showed how she was feeling through her wardrobe. She wore strapless gowns with slits down the side, black stiletto heels, haltered mini dresses, and many other mini dresses that hugged her body. When Taylor was off the red carpet, she still knew how to dress cute and comfortable. She was often seen wearing shirt dresses, plaid shirts, dark jeans, beanies, leathered boots, and adorable cross body bags
2012:
Taylor cut her hair into bangs and started to drift away from her embellished looking style in 2012. When she was going out for a night on the town; she wore low necklines and dresses with cutouts. She ditched the natural eye makeup and started to wear heavy eyeliner, smoky eye shadow, and lots of red lipstick. Even though she started to wear very sexy clothes in 2012, she knew how to clean up her style and make it more conservative. She adopted sophisticated pantsuits, high-wasted shorts, striped shirts, shirt dresses, and comfortable flats.
2013 - Present:
When the preppy style of clothing became popular in 2013, Taylor was seen wearing lots of simple sweaters, skinny jeans, and oxford shoes. In 2014, she chopped off all her hair to her shoulders and continued to rock the red lipstick. She began to wear really bright colors and loved to show off her tall, thin body. She continues to wear mini dresses, as well as long beautiful laced gowns, but has started to resort to lots of crop tops and short skirts. She has become very fond of tailored blazers, point-toe pumps, over the knee boots, colorful tote bags, platform sandals, and hats.
